Description
Olea Europea
Common name: Olive tree
A young olive tree has a trunk that’s smooth and as it ages it transforms to what’s known as a gnarled olive trunk, the young skins of the olive tree split and splinter over meany years to produce the bark ageing process of a semi-gnarled olive tree that is full of character and interest just like the one above in the picture. You could say an olive tree is as old as time dating back in ancient literature to 4000 BC and of course we all are familiar with the term “extending somebody and olive branch” the meaning of peace and good will.
