Tuscan Olive Trees can typically be planted at any time of the year as long as the ground below isn’t frozen. These beautiful trees are very hardy and can survive UK temperatures down to -15. When planting your Tuscan Olive Tree we recommend selecting a location that provides morning sun or filtered light throughout the day.
Furthermore, Tuscan Olive Trees are also slow-growing. This means they are the perfect plant for pot-growing and can be placed in either a bright spot in your garden, or alternatively in an unheated greenhouse. We recommend planting with John Innes no. 3 and mix with some agricultural grit.
Tuscan Olive Trees are generally quite easy to care for, however, their exposure should always be sheltered. In extreme cold weathers, we recommend protecting your Tuscan Olive Tree with bubble wrap pot and fleece crown.
Additionally, Tuscan Olive Trees need to be kept moist but also well-drained. In warmer months, water regularly at least once or twice a week and during winter months, keep the soil moist but avoid letting it dry out completely. It’s also important to be aware that when you plant your tree in the ground it has to be well-drained to avoid waterlogging.
Finally, to promote olive growth, we suggest fertilizing with Osmocote slow release and tomato feed.
