Our Frostproof Iron Stone pots come from Vietnamese artisans, produced with love and in celebration of ancient culture and tradition.
They begin by harvesting dark clay from the local riverbeds; this is then shaped by hand and fired under extreme temperatures in a wood-fired kiln for up to 3 weeks. Following traditional methods that have been in place for 6000 years, they are able to set the hardness and create amazing frost-proof properties. The dark clay used is Vietnamese black clay, the significance and importance of this clay is that it is able to host many different shades and tones. This is a heavy variety of clay that lends itself amazingly to the methods used. The extended time in the kiln at such high temperatures is able to create extra hardness, durability, and frost resistance.
As these pots are made by hand, each and every one has small markings and differences – giving the feeling of having the only one in the world. They are totally unique from quirky imperfections to colour variation; these differences are just a small part of the tradition of Vietnamese artisan pottery.
You are able to put a great variety of plants in these pots, from flowers to trees to shrubbery. They make a perfect gift for friends and family, or even as a treat to yourself. They have fabulous durability and compliment many lovely settings with their one of a kind looks, enhancing your home and garden with their wonderful vintage aesthetics. These pots are able to stay outside through all weathers, remaining stable even in cooler temperatures.
