Unlike traditional upright maples, ‘Ryusen’ develops elegant, pendulous branches that gently flow towards the ground, creating a mesmerising waterfall-like silhouette.

Pruning

Ryusen’ is a deciduous Japanese Maple, meaning that it loses its leaves during winter before producing fresh growth again in spring. Prune slightly after the leaves have fallen, to prepare for the next season.

Soil Preferences

‘Ryusen’ is adaptable but performs best in soil that is moist & well drained. It can tolerate clay, loam or sandy soil types, however well drained is better recommended

Easy Care

This idealic plants prefer gentle sun (dappled sun/partial shade). A sheltered position can protect delicate folagie. Dry soil combined with strong sunlight or wind can result in leaf scorch, where the edges of the leaves become brown and crispy – A deep watering is preferable to frequent, light watering.
